Charles Nouveau
I discovered Charles by chance -because as you may have noticed, I follow Montreux Comedy’s page- and got seduced by this act he does in English (with French subtitles). He is political, uses a lot of self-deprecation and clichés about the Swiss, and does a great job pretending to be God’s neighbour or even stating: “It’s not very easy to be in a monogamous relationship with Jesus.” Very funny!
His energy is quite low but he accelerates sometime to break the rythme or do an imitation and it’s very effective to keep us hooked. Charles also knows how to write comedy: I admire his transitions — they all make sense, his comparaisons, his dark punchlines -the ones about his grandmother are hilarious- , the way he goes into an absurd world sometimes and his conclusion. All of that in 10 minutes! Great comedy writer, great performer. Worth the watch.
