You are a bit lost sometimes and rarely remember my name or who I am. At first, I felt disappointed but now I take pleasure in reminding you my name and how we are related. Because each time, it brings a beautiful smile on your face.

You often tell us you would like to “reach the sky”, that you are ready to join your late and beloved husband. At first, I felt sad because I don’t want you to go but now I understand your wish and join you in your prayers.

You sometimes express a lot of love, tenderness and affection. Other times you may be agressive, lost and angry. At first, I felt confused and didn’t know how to react; but now I take you as you are, in that moment, and give you love no matter what.

You are no longer sure of where you are, who is with you and what you are supposed to do next. This frustrates you and gets you scared. At first, I didn’t know what to say but now I know I can point out a few things which will reassure you and bring you peace.

You are 91 and you are my grandmother. You gave my mum life and raised her into becoming an amazing woman.
Thanks to you, I breathe, live and love.
Thanks to you, I am one of the luckiest people in the world and I am grateful for every moment in my life.

You were not always lost and confused. You have been a beautiful soul and I will always cherish my memories with you. You have looked after us all your whole life; it’s time for us to look after you now. I love you very much and you are beautiful!
